The Spirit of ' 69, An Eccletic Anthology
of Poems
ISBN: 0974785008
by T.C. Murray
T.C. Murray served on the Board of Directors of THE CITIZEN for Social
Responsibility from 2004-2008. This anthology was the only work of poetry
he produced. "The Spirit of ' 69 " was first printed and
self-published by the author in 2002. T.C. Murray was a former high school
history teacher, who taught History at Power Memorial in NYC, at Essex
Catholic in Newark N.J. and later at Mater Dei in Middletown
N.J.
His anthology reflects the experiences of a long active life, of someone
who grew up in the infamous 'hell's kitchen' neighborhood in NYC, but who
applied himself in academics and would later graduate from Iona
College and do graduate level work at Fordham University.
T.C Murray, initially a Nixon supporter and ardent conservative, as a
result of his experience in life, took a more liberal bend over the
years. This small book clearly brings to life one man's conviction in his
beliefs, feelings and dreams. Although the title of the book is
symbolic of the change in his life, the poems cover a wide range of themes,
reflecting a range of years, as he comes to accept himself as a human being
of value and character.
The book is no longer in print but available at the Library of Congress, and
at the Newark Public Library, Newark, New Jersey.
